The nose is exceptionally perfumed, showing an abundance of violets, dark plums, black cherries and currants with whiffs of sweet tobacco, baking spices and cigar box. Dark berry fruit dominates a smooth, medium-bodied palate with flavours of black currant, red plums, black olives and notes of bramble, star anise and tobacco leaf. The mid-palate is vivid, focused and elegant, showing fine-grained, lithe tannins and integrated acidity. Graphite, cloves, black cardamom and hints of dark chocolate and sage linger on a fine finish.
