Fresh notes of Bosc Pear, Asian apple and Cape Mountain scrub meet richer layers of quince and warm baking spice. Bright acid balances a lovely round and mouth-filling texture, which finishes with a crisp quinine dryness.

Dalkeith is the passion project from Cape Town native Graham Weerts. Graham cut his winemaking teeth on Chenin Blanc in the early 1990s, and was inspired to craft this new offering after falling in love with the Kalmoesfontein Farm in the Swartland region. These dryland bush vines were planted on decomposed granite more than 50 years ago, and today, they produce some of the purest and most remarkable fruit of the region. Dalkeith’s flagship wine is 100% Chenin Blanc from this site.

Water is life, and nowhere more so than South Africa. Dalkeith wine was named for a watering hole in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – an essential source of life and community gathering place. Dalkeith’s precious water draws predators and prey to this spot, creating some of the most incredible wildlife scenes in the world. As someone who’s witnessed the magic of this place firsthand, Graham felt the name was perfect for his newest wine. Like the watering hole, this wine brings life to our community and creates a sustainable future for all those involved. The watercolor painting on the label shares the wild energy and life force of this unique place.
