A taut and cerebral vintage after the boldness of its predecessor. Salted cherries, liquorice and dark chocolate as well as sweet spiciness from nutmeg and clove show on the nose. The tannins are again tea-like and chalky and the acidity racy and fresh, softening somewhat in the glass as the Vrede vineyard’s depth of fruit unfurls.

Bona Fide is the Latin term for “In good trust” which refers appropriately to our relationship with the owners of the vineyards, the Lötter family, which extends back 30 years. It is only through a relationship based on complete trust that the resulting wine will do justice to this special site.
