This Pinot is meticulously grown in the cool Elgin Valley on a combination of deep, red shales interspersed with ferrous- rich gravel. The engineering of cool climate, site position and crafting of these elements provide the perfect harmony required to produce a Pinot of fine character. Upfront layers of black cherry ans savoury earthiness seamlessly supported by mineral oak tannins.
What began as a festive three-barrel foot stomp event attended by a handful of friends on a south peninsula beach in 1996, produced a very palatable Syrah, and saw the founding in 1997 of the first true micro-winery in the Western Cape with Pinot Noir the focus. The aptly named Barefoot Wine Company trading as Catherine Marshall Wines has long outgrown its humble origins to become a legendary institution and exporting to most wine consumer destinations world- wide.
