The nose is quite expressive, showing citrus, nuts, and something herbal like spearmint. The palate is very textured and intense, showing layered flavours of naartjie, bitter almond and a touch of something herbal. This is a serious wine with unusual depth and carry. The best Monument/La Colline in a few years, I think.
In many ways, this parcel is a living monument to a bygone agricultural era and to the history of the Cape wine. Of course, Franschhoek is also famous for the Huguenot Memorial Monument.
