Dorper Wines The Dorper range originated from the vision of creating an exceptional “village” wine, inspired by the traditions of Burgundy, France. This concept led to the name progression of Village (French) – Town (English) – Dorp (Afrikaans). In South Africa, the Dorper sheep breed, known for its hardiness and adaptability, reflects similar qualities found in the Pinotage and Chenin Blanc grape varieties. The Dorper Pinotage was introduced in 2017, followed by a Chenin Blanc in 2020. These wines are crafted to explore the diversity and complexity of Stellenbosch’s old vine sites. We were impressed by these wines. They are great quality and gives good value for what is ultimately a premium wine.
