Thamnus

Thamnus Wines, situated in the remote Overberg at 250m above sea level, hosts the exclusive Orothamnus Zeyheri mountain rose and produces expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  The farm integrates sheep farming, olive groves, and wheat fields alongside vineyards, embodying a centuries-old tradition of mixed farming.

Led by Winemaker P.J. Geyer, his vision is to capture the terroir’s essence, crafting finely balanced, classic wines that reflect the farm’s unique history and natural surroundings. Nestled beneath the Klein River mountains, Thamnus Wines benefits from cool-climate conditions and ancient soils, yielding elegant, old-world-style wines, particularly notable in their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir expressions.

With a commitment to natural farming methods, the vineyards are meticulously tended vine by vine, while sheep graze among the vines as part of a regenerative agriculture approach. Beyond wine, the farm offers high-quality lamb, olive oil, and fynbos honey, reflecting a holistic dedication to sustainable agriculture and the preservation of its natural environment.

We our proud to be one of the first retailers to stock this maiden vintage from Thamnus. Stocks, as always, are limited so don’t wait to order yours today!

Journey’s End

In 1995, the Gabb family, hailing from Shropshire, UK, discovered and fell in love with the idyllic wine farm that would become Journey’s End. Through their dedication, the estate has flourished, now enveloped by 40 hectares of vineyards. Nestled amidst the Schapenberg hills, the vineyards benefit from ancient decomposed granite soils, renowned for creating exceptional terroir. The cooling south-easterly winds, known as the ‘Cape Doctor’, sweep in from False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, further enhancing grape quality.

Committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, Journey’s End holds WIETA, IPW, and Fairtrade certifications, transitioning to solar power in 2014. The Journey’s End Foundation’s impactful work earned them the Ethical Company award in 2020 and 2021, alongside accolades for water management and social impact. Recognized as WWF Conservation Champions, their dedication to sustainable farming and native flora and fauna conservation has earned acclaim.

Spearheaded by winemakers Leon Esterhuizen and Mike Dawson, progressive techniques like minimal intervention, carbonic maceration, and fermentation in amphorae and concrete eggs contribute to the complexity of their classically elegant wines, epitomizing their ethos of drinking well while doing good.

Journey’s End has has been a friend of Wine Concepts for many years and we love this great value range they offer!
