Wine Gems Special Edition – Solms Delta

Solms Delta

In November 2023, the Solms-Delta Wine Company was launched as a new venture, continuing the legacy of land restitution and community upliftment initiated by Mark Solms in 2001. Owned by the Hall family from the United States, with Tommy Hall, a director of a Fortune 500 technology company, as a key figure, the company aims to prioritize social equity and long-term financial viability.

The Franschhoek-based company plans to revive the Fyndraai restaurant, reopen the Museum van de Caab, and reinstate human development and educational projects for Winelands communities. The initial focus is on revitalizing neglected vineyards to generate employment and training opportunities, with the first harvest expected in 2024.

Two Rhône-style blends, Hiervandaan 2023 and Amalie 2023, crafted by consultant winemaker Francois Haasbroek, are introduced. Haasbroek emphasizes a contemporary approach, highlighting vibrancy and fruit-forward qualities. While aiming to establish itself as a leading boutique wine brand, the Solms-Delta Wine Company sees the wines as a catalyst for economic change in the farming community.

The launch will be celebrated with the revival of the annual Oesfees in 2024, a harvest celebration featuring traditional music and Cape country cooking, symbolizing the resurgence of community projects in the Cape Winelands.

We are excited to be one of the first retailers to stock these  wines and make them available to you on Wine Concepts Online.
