Silverthorn & Journey’s End

Silverthorn

Silverthorn in the picturesque Robertson Valley is one of a handful of estates that only produces Cap Classique. John Loubser had successful wine making stints at Moreson, De Wetshof, and Graham Beck Wines before joining Steenberg in 2001 as their cellar master and then general manager in 2007. Silverthorn’s growth and the desire to pursue his own dreams were the deciding factors that made John resign from Steenberg in 2017.

Since then they have gone from strength to strength adding a new Cap Classique to the range made from Colombard grapes, called River Dragon. We are fortunate to have forged a good relationship with the team at Silverthorn and are very happy to offer their wines both in-store and online!

Journey’s End – Tales Series

In 1995 the Gabb family, originally from Shropshire, UK, fell in love with this picturesque wine farm surrounded by 20 ha of gorgeous vineyards. They are nestled amongst the Schapenberg hills, beneath which lie 350 million year old decomposed granite soils. This creates one of the most prestigious terroirs in South Africa, and is where their vines are planted. The team has always been committed to being environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

The Tales Series is a lifestyle range that offers tremendous value and remains some of the best selling wines in our shops. Between the two white wines and the blends, the Bordeaux style Pastor’s Blends and the Rhone style Huntsman, there is truly something for everyone!
