As 2020 and the beginning of a new decade gathers momentum we are welcoming back our customers who are looking well rested after the break! The kids are back at school, varsities open soon and for most of us it’s the start of the daily grind but with exciting new challenges for the year ahead. The heat is on in the vineyards and the picking of the grapes for our local MCC bubblies will start in earnest soon if not already in some regions.
We congratulate Niel Jones, our assistant manager at our Newlands branch, who scored a Distinction in his WSET Level 2 exams. We are proud of our teams at our Wine Concepts stores who continue to strive keeping up with their knowledge of wine which benefits both themselves and you our customers.
In December we saw the tragic destruction by runaway fires of Samantha O’Keefe’s Lismore Estate in Greyton.

Both our stores immediately started a campaign to help towards a trust fund that has been set up by promoting sales of her excellent wines and donating R10.00 for every bottle sold. We will continue with this until the end of January 2020.
For our recipe this month Michael Olivier gives us his delicious version of Ina Paarmans whole fish cooked in newspaper. We have an interesting line up of new wines in our stores, along with excellent daily tastings from well-known and newer estates. Flavour Focus evening for January at Newlands
Our theme for our flavour focus this month is on Wines to Celebrate 2020 and the start of a new decade! We have selected some special one’s for you to try on the following dates:
On the 17th January from 4.00pm – 7.00pm we will have Baleia, Overgaauw, Brookdale, Boschkloof, Warwick and Springfield
On the 31st January from 4.00pm – 7.00pm we will have Starke Conde, Olifantsberg, Bloemendal, Edgebaston and Dombeya
There is no charge so come and enjoy a tasting or two before you buy a few bottles to take home with you.

Wine Tastings at Wine Concepts – Newlands
We have free tastings at our Newlands Shop every day from 4pm till 7pm and on Saturdays from 11am till 2pm.
Wine Tastings at Wine Concepts – Kloof Street
At our Kloof Street shop we have tastings Mondays to Friday from 4pm till 7pm and Saturdays from 12pm till 3pm.
