Background: This week saw the announcement of the winning wines in Getaway Magazines Best Value Wines Guide. The Guide, which started in 2002, continues to offer the wine drinking public a selection of good value wines that over deliver on price. The judges for this year’s guide, headed by International wine taster and journalist, Fiona MacDonald, included Cape Wine Masters, winemakers, wine educators and sommeliers. The winning wine in the Best Value Chenin Blanc category was the Chenin Blanc from Wellington Wines called the “W”. Wellington Wines is owned by vineyard owners of which there are 70 members some of which boasting exceptional vineyards and especially for their plantings of Chenin Blanc.

Once the grapes were picked at optimal ripeness the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then left on the lees for extra complexity prior to bottling. The wine is un wooded.

Result:
Fresh ripe melon aromas with a mellow, tropical fruit palate leading to a
refreshingly long finish.

When to drink:
now!

Drink with what: This is a wine that is perfect on its own but excellent with summer salads.

Expect to pay: R47.00
