Saronsberg Provenance Rooi 2011
Winemaker: Dewaldt Heyns
Region: Tulbagh
Background: Celebrating 10 vintages at Saronsberg, Dewaldt has built up a reputation for his unique approach of winemaking on this property, especially with his Rhone and Bordeaux style wines. The Rooi 2011 is a five-way blend of Bordeaux varieties and after fermentation in both open and closed fermenters the wine spent 20 months in barrel prior to bottling.
Result: Deep velvety in colour, the wine is refined and elegant yet intense with intriguing violet, lead pencil and mineral aromas. The long finish presents savoury tannins which calls for yet another glass!

Drink with what: Great with barbecues and we enjoyed it with a delicious Rooibos basted Chalmar Sirloin!
