Haystack Chardonnay 2013
Winery: Journeys End
Winemaker: Leon Esterhuizen
Region: Sir Lowry’s Pass
Background: Named Haystack from the practise of planting wheat in between the vineyard rows which provides extra nutrients for the soil, as well as help prevent soil erosion. The wine was fermented and matured in second and third fill Francois Frere French oak barrels.
Result: The wine has a delicate straw colour with tropical fruit, citrus and toffee aromas. The palate is rich and creamy with complex savoury flavours of butterscotch and citrus with a long lingering finish.
When to drink: Enjoy now up to 2016
Drink with what: Seafood! We loved it with spicy grilled prawns!
Expect to pay: R65.00
