April 2016

The Easter holidays now behind us we are seeing the long warm days of summer slowly coming to an end. The vineyards are now taking a break after the earlier than usual harvest this year and, which means, we are seeing a trickle of 2016 vintage wines already on our shelves.

PIWOSA (Premium Independent Wineries of South Africa) annually offer their Women inWine Initiative to attend the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 and 2 courses in Cape Town as well as spending practical days on the various farms involved throughout the year. We congratulate two members of our team from our Kloof Street branch who were recently awarded this initiative. They are Olga Mxaka who was selected by Jordan Wine Estate and Kelly Ballakistan who was selected by the Glenelly Estate.

For our recipe this month Michael Olivier gives us his warming Red Rib Curry. We have an interesting line up of new wines in our stores, along with excellent tastings from well-known and newer estates. Please visit our website www.wineconcepts.co.za for details on our daily tastings on upcoming events at both our Newlands and Kloof Street stores.
